A decade off the grid ends with a jolt: Jimmy Scott Free returns with Turn Back Time, a soulful, euphoric house cut powered by the legendary voice of Kim English. It’s a comeback single that feels like sunrise—bright, emotive, and built for big speakers.
Southend-born and now splitting time between the Midlands and Barcelona, Jimmy earned his stripes in the 2000s: promoting nights at 15, building a reggae-style sound system, and launching a live dance act with his brother. That DIY ascent led to stages with Peter Hook and The Light, Groove Armada, and Skunk Anansie, plus Best Dance Track at the Exposure Music Awards in 2010. Then came burnout. He left for Spain—and left music behind.
Last year a friend urged him to switch the studio back on. “When my brother left the band, I lost my heart for music,” Jimmy says. “This is a new chapter, but the fire’s still the same.” Now he’s writing relentlessly, aiming for radio-ready, soul-stirring dance music that keeps the grit of his live roots.
